Southern Bistro: A Southern American Breakfast & Brunch Gem in Atlanta

Southern Bistro prepared a plate of good Southern fried chicken features a piece with an incredibly crisp, golden-brown crust that shatters to reveal tender, juicy, and well-seasoned meat. It is perfectly complemented by a generous serving of fluffy, rich, and creamy mashed potatoes, often served hot and savory brown gravy on the side. Green beans and deviled eggs where very good also.

First visit to Southern Bistro on a random Saturday for lunch/brunch. The restaurant is comfy and inviting with nice decor and white table cloths. Our server, Levonne, was friendly and helped to make our experience wonderful. The food was excellent! We will definitely come back for more!

Our server, Sean, was fantastic! The food and cocktails were great and prompt. We had the salmon and flounder special which were both delicious. The table reservation process was easy too!

Nice casual/ semi formal restaurant with white table cloths, good food, and great service. Lavonne was wonderful waitress. Great recommendations.

Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Great food. Wonderful for kids. Especially if you’re on the patio. Really great place.

Dined at Southern Bistro for lunch. We ordered shrimp & grits and grilled salmon. Both entrees were excellent. Unfortunately, I ordered a slice of caramel pound cake to go which was a bit dry. Service started out great, but slowed down once our plates were removed. We waited about 15 minutes to order dessert and request the check.

This was our 2nd brunch visit and it didn’t live up to the first. Some of the issue was service - coffee only got refilled when asked and a refill on creamer wasn’t offered, iced tea wasn’t refilled. The food was ok. Both Benedict plates were tried were flavorful as were the cheese grits. The deluxe French toast was a few pieces of basic French toast, an egg, and a few pieces of bacon. Nothing fancy. The chilaquiles were my main issue - on the dry side and made with reheated chicken. When I didn’t eat more than a few bites and mentioned to the server that the chicken tasted reheated, she made said nothing, so I guess that’s how they usually make them. Disappointing but okay overall. We may try Bistro one more time for dinner before ruling them out.

I've frequented this location across ownership and name changes, yet I've always had reliable meals here. All of Southern Bistro's dinner entree options are legit, and they also have daily specials that are pretty good. Warning: The Prime Rib special on Saturdays is pretty large! The house cocktails are also good here, and the small bar is typically crowded and lively. Some of my favorites include the chopped steak, short rib, and Georgia Rainbow Trout. If you can handle a little bit of desert, opt for the homemade warm poundcake w/ ice cream. You will not be disappointed.
